Married Healthcare Professionals Bequest Supports St. Vincent Care

John and Cheryl Moseley

Dr. John and Cheryl Moseley

Dr. John and Cheryl Moseley met at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA in 1979. Cheryl and John worked side by side for 14 years before they married in 1993. Cheryl says, “John has always been my favorite surgeon! He’s brilliant, and has a generous, kind soul.” It brings tears to John’s eyes when he talks about Cheryl’s work in the OR and with Mother Teresa. They share an understanding, admiration, and love for one another.

In 1993, Dr. Moseley and Cheryl’s life’s work brought them to St. Vincent Healthcare. The Mosely’s always felt a closeness to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and their ministry. Dr. Moseley tells stories of the Sisters paying to fly patients in from rural areas in Montana and Wyoming who lacked financial resources, and Dr. Moseley administered procedures at no cost. From early on, they both knew their life’s work would center on neuroscience and serving others.

In early 2018, the Moseley’s decided to leave their legacy by bequeathing their entire estate to St. Vincent Healthcare. The gift will bless the Spiritual Care Department and the Neuroscience Center of Excellence. The Moseley’s lived a rich life understanding that spiritual and physical health are necessary for a purposeful life. Cheryl often says, “I could leave this earth tomorrow knowing that our estate is going to bless those closest to us and that the St. Vincent Foundation will assume responsibility for our estate and making sure the money is used exactly as we wished. I cannot tell you how much peace that gives me.”

The Moseley’s will always hold a special place in this community, this organization, and our hearts. We are grateful for their love and support and look forward to telling their story for generations to come.
